Subject : Chronic Low Back Pain: A Problem from a Neurosurgery Point of View |

Management of patients with low back pain (LBP) problems by the primary care physicians or even the spine specialists differ significantly and little is known about treatment strategy. The objective of this review is to present the clinical profile and to assess the most common treatment modalities of patients with low-back pain in order to improve the clinical judjment of the treating physician.data were obtained from a midline literature search of English language articles, also manual revision of original articles and addition of demonstrative figures from patients at our institute was made. LBP is extremely common problem. It is charecterized by attacks of remissions and exacerbations. It is best managed by multidisciplinary team. Primary coordination of treatment may depend on patient’s need and awarness of the treating physician of the impotance of history and physical examinations following the suggested guidelines may help to identify red flags that denoting more serious conditions.

The 2nd Annual Dinner with Neurosurgery Alumni was held last June 10, 2010. The Graduates of Neurosurgery Fellowship gathered together again mainly to see, mingle and bond with each other not only as colleagues but as family.
The Most Achieved Graduate of this year (2009-2010) was recognized, and was awarded to Prof. Bassem Y. Sheikh.
The 3rd Alumni Dinner is on May 9, 2011, and the next Most Achieved Graduate is being looked for...

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Anazi obtained patency from King Abdulaziz Center for Science and Technology for his invention, Al-Anazi Ventriculo-Uterine Shunt.
Al Anazi VU Shunt is used for intrauterine treatment of fetal hydrocephalus.
